About the Couple
Guy and Laura have been together since September 29, 2004, their first official date. They met as English teachers in South Korea, an interesting coincidence, since they are both from western Canada (Laura from Saskatchewan, Guy from Alberta and BC).
Guy was the first to arrive in Miryang, in May of 2004. He moved into the small city and quickly fell under the mistaken impression that he was the only non-Korean in town. His work kept him busy, until one day another foreign teacher at a different hagwon (private school) stumbled upon his blog and asked him to join him and a few other English teachers for dinner and drinks. There, he met Laura for the first time.
They were inseparable right from the start. Their love of travel, exploration, and good food bonded them. Once they both finished their year teaching in Korea, they decided to move to Vancouver together - Guy to attend school at Simon Fraser University, and Laura to find work as a graphic designer. They have been in Vancouver and Burnaby for about two-and-a-half years, and are finding that the West Coast has become their home.
