The Wedding

The Wedding Invitation

Guy and Laura researched the date of the summer equinox of 2008 and found that it occurred at exactly 3:59 PM, Pacific time. The symbolism of the equinox appealed to them; holding the ceremony on the cusp of a new season, following the rhythm and flow of nature, it made perfect sense to celebrate the great change which would be their new life together at summer's turning point.

They went through many different ideas and plans before they came to a final decision on the size, destination, and location of the wedding. From a destination wedding to a huge (250+) guest list to eloping, they went through almost every imaginable scenario. They even consulted with a wedding planner!

In the end, they decided to have a simple, intimate, and elegant celebration in Vancouver, close to the water and the mountains, which suited them perfectly.

Daniel Duke, Guy's older brother, will be Guy's best man, and Jonathan Wrubleski, Laura's brother and only sibling, will be Laura's, in a twist on the classic bridesmaid tradition. (They won't be making him wear a dress, if he's lucky...but he can if he wants to!)

Guy's parents, Pat and Catherine Duke, and Laura's parents, Timothy and Brenda Wrubleski, as well as Laura's maternal grandmother, Ethel Franke, will be in attendance. The photographer will be Amber Richert, one of Laura's dearest friends.

They would have loved to have been able to invite all of the family and friends they wanted to, but a large celebration just wasn't meant to be. Rest assured, were circumstances different, they would have loved to have you there!
